THE BREIF
As part of a school print assignment, we were given a unique brief: travel to the year 2984 as a NASA emissary, tasked with reporting on the state of life on Earth. The twist? All visuals and text had to be entirely generated using artificial intelligence — turning the tools of the future into the medium of the story itself.
Set in a speculative timeline where Earth’s rotation has reversed and tectonic plates have merged into a single supercontinent, the report imagines a post-utopian world stripped of its diversity. What began as a vision of global unity devolves into a sterile reality of sameness.
Landscapes, climates, and cultures have flattened into a monochrome system of efficiency and order, where cities replicate one another and individuality is lost. The once-vibrant fabric of human life is replaced by a world optimised for function, not expression.
Through AI-generated imagery and narrative, Spiritless serves as a cautionary reflection on the risks of unchecked standardisation - a future where the pursuit of harmony may come at the cost of soul.
